Message from the Resident Students

S.A. 1^st year in Nursing
In the first year, we learn about the basic knowledge and skills of nursing such as human anatomy and functions, and basic nursing skills. We have the opportunity to study with fellow students from the School of Medicine, and Divisions of Physical Therapy and Occupation Therapy, and we get to make many friends from different backgrounds. There is also plenty of time to enjoy meeting friends outside the classroom, or get involved in extra-curricular activities. I hope you will join us in studying nursing in this beautiful campus, with sincere teaching staff and fellow students!

S.A. 1^st year in Nursing

D.Y. 2^nd year in Nursing
As I proceeded to 2nd year of Nursing, the number of lectures have almost doubled and I have now the opportunity to acquire a lot more about medical knowledge and skills. Many students therefore enthusiastically sit in the lectures, and overwhelm the lecturer with questions. When examinations draw nearer, we gather in nearby cafes to study together. As we advance in our study, we are certainly faced by more challenges. On the other hand, challenges bring us closer and I enjoy working together with fellow students.

D.Y. 2^nd year in Nursing

As I proceeded to 2nd year of Nursing, the number of lectures have almost doubled and I have now the opportunity to acquire a lot more about medical knowledge and skills. Many students therefore enthusiastically sit in the lectures, and overwhelm the lecturer with questions. When examinations draw nearer, we gather in nearby cafes to study together. As we advance in our study, we are certainly faced by more challenges. On the other hand, challenges bring us closer and I enjoy working together with fellow students.

C.M. 3^rd year in Nursing
In the third year, we have lectures in the first and hospital practicum in the last half of the year. The hospital practicum may start as early as September for some of us. I have never experienced a practicum of such long duration, and I must admit, I feel a little nervous. But on the other hand, I feel I could learn a lot in terms of nursing skills and knowledge, and from working with patients and medical professionals. Practicum at each ward will also help me make clearer decisions as to my goals for the future. I am sure that I can overcome the challenges, because I know that I am not alone but working together with my friends and colleagues.

C.M. 3^rd year in Nursing

The final year is an extremely important year in which we are to finalize what we have acquired in the four years and prepare ourselves for employment. In seminars, we learn about research methods, in Gerontology nursing practicum about care for the elderly and in Community nursing practicum, about the role of public health nurse. For those wishing to become midwives, midwifery practicum starts. Employment exams start around summer, followed by the most difficult challenge, the national exams. Though there will be tough times, I hope to tackle them one by one and prepare myself to become a medical professional, and at the same time enjoy the remaining student life as much as I can.
