History of Nagasaki University School of Health Science
1903 October Established as a nursing school attached to Nagasaki prefectural hospital.
1923 April Renamed Nursing and Midwifery School attached to the former Nagasaki Medical College.
1945 August An atomic bomb exploded over Nagasaki.
1949 May Renamed Welfare School for Women attached to Nagasaki University of the School of Medicine.
1951 April Renamed College of Nursing attached to Nagasaki University of the School of Medicine.
1955 June College of Midwifery attached to Nagasaki University of the School of Medicine established.
1956 April Renamed College of Nursing attached to Nagasaki University the School of Medicine.
1984 April The College of Allied Medical Science established within Nagasaki University.  Division of Nursing established. (student capacity 50 )
1984 October Division of Physical Therapy (student capacity 20) and Division of Occupational Therapy (student capacity 20) established.
1987 April Advanced course for Midwifery, Associate degree of Nagasaki University (student capacity 20) established.
1991 April Student capacity of the Division of Nursing increased to 80.
1996 April Advanced course for Midwifery, Associate degree of Nagasaki University authorized by the National Institute for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation.
2001 October The School of Health Sciences  established in the School of Medicine. (student capacity for nursing 80, physical therapy 20, occupational therapy 20)
2006 April Masters course in Health Sciences established at Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
2010 April Division of Rehabilitation Sciences as a post-doctoral course in rehabilitation science established at Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
2012 April Master course in Midwifery established at Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Division of Health Sciences.
